Transferring domain to Ellipsis Marketing

One of the benefits of having us develop and/or manage your website is that we can manage your domain as well. However, it requires transferring the domain under our registrar account. This article outlines the steps that are involved in initiating domain transfer over to Ellipsis Marketing.

High Level Steps of Domain Transfer

At a high level, domain transfer involves the following three steps -

1. Unlock the domain
2. Generate auth code
3. Email us the authorization code

Each registrar has their own ways to help you with the above three steps.

Transferring Domain from GoDaddy to Ellipsis Marketing

1. Log in to your GoDaddy account.
2. Go to "My Products > Domain" and select the domain you want to transfer.
3. If your domain registration is "protected" then remove "Protected Registration". If your domain registration is "private" then remove "Private Registration".
4. Unlock your domain.
5. Get an authorization code. Send it to us.

When we will initiate the transfer, GoDaddy will send you an email about it. That email will have a link to accept the transfer. If you accept it, domain transfer will happen on the same day. If you do not respond to that email, transfer will complete automatically in 7 business days.

Transferring Domain from Wix to Ellipsis Marketing

1. Log in to your Wix account.
2. Go to "Domains".
3. Select the "show more" icon next to the domain you want to transfer, and from the drop-down, select "Transfer away from Wix".
4. Wix will ask for a confirmation, multiple times. Keep confirming your action to transfer the domain.
5. Wix will email you the authorization code. Send it to us.

When we will initiate the transfer, Wix may send you another email about it. You won't need to take any further action. The domain transfer will complete automatically in 7 business days.

Transferring Domain from Square Space to Ellipsis Marketing

1. Log in to your Square Space account.
2. Go to "Domains".
3. Select the domain you want to transfer.
4. Uncheck the "Lock Domain" option.
5. You will see the authorization code. Send it to us.

When we will initiate the transfer, Square Space will send you an email about it. You won't need to take any further action. The domain transfer will complete automatically in 7 business days.
